Frequently Asked Questions

Maryland’s favorite family owned dumpster rental service

How long can I keep the dumpster?

Our standard rental period is 14 days, which covers most cleanouts, renovations, and construction projects. Need it shorter or longer? Just let us know when you book, we can adjust the rental window to fit your timeline.

How does pricing work?

We charge a flat rate that includes delivery, pickup, and a set weight allowance. If your debris goes over that weight limit, a standard extra tonnage fee applies, this is common across the industry, not a Toskov & Sons markup. Final pricing can also vary based on the type of material you’re disposing of (construction debris, household junk, concrete, etc.), so let us know what you’re hauling when you call for the most accurate quote.

What can’t I put in the dumpster?

Hazardous materials and liquids are off-limits, including paint, chemical drums, batteries, creosote-treated railroad ties, and asbestos. Tires and mattresses can be accepted but come with an additional disposal charge. Paint cans are fine as long as the paint inside is fully dried out.

Do I need a permit for my dumpster?

In most cases, no, if the dumpster is placed on your own driveway or private property, you generally don’t need a permit. A permit is typically only required when the dumpster has to sit on a public street, sidewalk, or other public property. If you’re in an HOA community, it’s also worth checking their rules before delivery, some have their own placement or notification requirements.

How should I load the dumpster?

Try to spread debris evenly across the dumpster rather than piling it all in one spot, this keeps weight balanced and makes pickup safer and easier. Load lighter materials or items that could blow away first, then build heavier debris on top.

Can I overfill the dumpster?

No, debris needs to stay level with the top sides of the dumpster, not mounded above it. Overfilled dumpsters can’t be safely transported and may require us to remove excess material before pickup, which can delay your project.

What size dumpster do I need?

It depends on the project. Smaller cleanouts and decluttering jobs usually fit in a 15-yard dumpster, while renovations, roofing jobs, and larger cleanouts often call for a 20-yard or bigger. Tell us what you’re working on when you call and we’ll help you pick the right size the first time.

How fast can you deliver?

In most cases, if you call before early afternoon, we can get a dumpster to you the same day. Otherwise, next-day delivery is standard across our Maryland service area.
